Happy Thursday Coachella Valley Seniors!
If the desert had a favorite time of year, it would be right now. That sweet, irreplaceable window before the summer heat takes over, when evenings are still warm enough to linger on the patio and mornings are cool enough to take a long walk without thinking twice.

The valley is at its most alive this week, with festival season buzzing in Indio and the rest of the cities carrying on with exactly the kind of community events that make this place worth staying for year-round. Whether your kind of spring evening involves a concert at McCallum, a Thursday night stroll through VillageFest, or dinner somewhere new and genuinely memorable, this issue has something for you. Let's make the most of what's left of the season.

We want to shine a light on the Palm Springs Air Museum, one of the valley's most beloved nonprofit institutions and a place that earns its standing every single day.

Sitting right off Gene Autry Trail with the San Jacinto Mountains as a backdrop, the museum houses one of the world's largest collections of flying WWII warplanes, along with aircraft from Korea, Vietnam, and beyond. What makes it different from any other aviation museum is that most of these planes still fly, and many of the docents are veterans themselves, ready to share firsthand stories that no placard can fully capture.

Right now through April 12, kids 12 and under get in free with a paid adult. And for those who want to go all the way, warbird rides in restored WWII aircraft start at $195 per person, an experience that is genuinely hard to forget.

We are building a list of the best local spots based on your recommendations.
Our Pick: Ash & Vine, Palm Springs

Tucked behind the Plaza in a 1938 bungalow with a patio strung in fairy lights and wrapped in bougainvillea, Ash & Vine is the kind of place that makes you feel like you found a secret. Chef Matt Resler's cooking is broadly Italian but with confident Asian touches throughout, grilled cheese dumplings with tomato bisque, hamachi crudo with avocado-wasabi sorbet, and a scallop risotto made with Hokkaido scallops that regulars keep coming back for.
What to order: The bo kho rigatoni, a Vietnamese-inspired take on bolognese, has become a conversation starter. Brunch runs Thursday through Monday 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., dinner nightly from 5 p.m. Reservations recommended.

Your Firebirds Are Playoff-Bound, Again
The Coachella Valley Firebirds clinched their spot in the 2026 Calder Cup Playoffs on April 4, marking the fourth consecutive postseason appearance for the valley's own AHL team. Tyson Jugnauth sealed it with an overtime winner against Abbotsford in a 3-2 road victory. Playoff home game tickets at Acrisure Arena go on sale soon, keep an eye on cvfirebirds.com for the schedule.

The Desert Is Getting a Beach, and It Has a Date
Disney's Cotino community in Rancho Mirage has confirmed that the public-facing Cotino Bay Beach, Dining and Shops town center is on track to open fall 2026. The development sits alongside a 24-acre swimmable lagoon and will be open to non-residents through paid day passes. Among the first tenants: a waterfront restaurant called Elevare, Palm Springs favorite On the Mark Fine Foods & Provisions, and the first U.S. location of Canadian coffee shop Artigiano. Worth watching, this one is coming sooner than it sounds.
