Happy Thursday Coachella Valley Seniors!
It feels like we finally hit that sweet spot in the Coachella Valley where the mornings are crisp enough for a long walk but the afternoons still invite a slow lunch on the patio.

We’ve been keeping an eye on the local calendar, and this week is a busy one, from classic musicals at the McCallum to community celebrations in Palm Springs. Whether you’re looking to pick up a new hobby like Mah Jong or just want a quiet hour of yoga, there is something here for everyone. This Week: Assistance League Coachella Valley

Some organizations do their work so steadily that you can miss how much of the valley they are quietly holding together. Assistance League Coachella Valley is one of those groups. The Rancho Mirage-based nonprofit says it is all-volunteer and has been serving the community since 1976, with programs that support children, teens, military families, and senior citizens across the valley.
What makes them especially worth highlighting here is that seniors are not just a side note in the mission. Their Senior Services program says members visit nursing home residents, provide musical entertainment and friendly company, and also help supply clothing and personal items to seniors who do not have other resources. It is practical help, but it is also the kind of human contact that matters just as much.

There is also a very tangible way readers can connect with the work right now. Assistance League’s Palm Desert resale boutique is volunteer-staffed, and the organization says proceeds stay in the Coachella Valley serving children, adults, military families, and seniors. That makes the shop an easy entry point for anyone who wants to support something local without a big production. The organization also invites new members to volunteer and says interested residents can call or email to get involved.
It is the sort of group that reminds you how much community life depends on people who simply keep showing up.

This Week: Spencer’s Restaurant, Palm Springs

701 West Baristo Road, Palm Springs
Spencer’s Restaurant is one of those Palm Springs names that still sounds worth dressing for a little. The restaurant says breakfast runs from 8 to 11, lunch from 11 to 2:30, dinner from 5 to 10, and Sunday brunch from 8 to 2:30, which already gives it the sort of flexible daytime rhythm many readers appreciate.
The setting is a big part of the appeal. Spencer’s describes its atmosphere as a blend of stylish elegance and comfortable informality, and it specifically points to its award-winning patio at the base of the San Jacinto Mountains. That sounds about right for a place you might choose when you want the meal to feel like the outing, not just the stop between errands.
The brunch side is easy to picture, too. Their Sunday brunch menu includes chilled gazpacho with Maine lobster, ahi tuna tartare, and a three onion soup gratinée, which tells you this is not trying to be a hurried coffee-and-toast kind of place. It is a settle-in spot.

Palm Springs has its Spring 2026 P.L.A.Y. guide out now
This is the sort of city item worth saving somewhere you can find it again. The Palm Springs homepage is currently highlighting the Spring 2026 issue of P.L.A.Y., the city’s Parks, Leisure, and Activities guide, which makes it a useful place to scan for classes, recreation options, and seasonal programming in one shot.
📍 Palm Springs

FIND’s food map is a practical one to bookmark
FIND Food Bank says its map is designed to help residents find the nearest distribution center, and the site notes that food is distributed through 150 locations including partner agencies and mobile markets. In a region this spread out, having the map handy can save a lot of guesswork.
📍 Coachella Valley

Roadwork season is here, so check Palm Springs street notices before you head out
Not glamorous, but useful. The city’s roadway maintenance page says residents will see notices before work begins, along with no-parking and no-driving signs, and affected streets are closed to traffic on construction days. This is exactly the kind of quick check that can save you a frustrating detour.
