This Week: Cathedral City Senior Center

A good senior center does more than fill a calendar. It gives people a reason to leave the house, a familiar face at the door, and a place where the day feels a little less lonely. Cathedral City Senior Center has been doing that work for older adults in Cathedral City and nearby communities, with programs built around connection, movement, learning, and support.

The center offers activities, classes, lunch programs, social gatherings, and community resources from its location on Buddy Rogers Avenue. That can mean a game table, a support group, a practical appointment, or simply a comfortable place to sit with other people who understand the rhythm of life in the desert.

What makes the center especially useful in summer is how much of its work happens indoors, in a setting designed for older adults. When the heat makes errands feel bigger than they should, places like this become part of the valley’s quiet safety net.

If you live in or near Cathedral City, this is the kind of place to know before you need it. Stop in, look through the activity guide, and see what feels right.

This Week: Pacifica Seafood Restaurant, Palm Desert

73505 El Paseo, Palm Desert, CA

Pacifica Seafood Restaurant is the kind of El Paseo dinner spot that works nicely when you want the evening to feel polished but not stiff. The restaurant is known for fresh seafood, a relaxed dining room, and a patio setting that makes an early dinner feel like a proper desert plan.

The menu leans into seafood without leaving everyone else behind. You will find oysters, ahi tuna tartare, scallops, fresh fish, steak, pasta, salads, and small plates, along with an extensive vodka bar and a serious wine list. It is an easy choice for a table where one person wants seafood, another wants something classic, and nobody wants to feel rushed.

In July, the best move is probably a cooler-hour visit. Go for happy hour, an early dinner, or a Sunday or Wednesday bar stop when the restaurant runs all-night happy hour.
