This Week: Elder Love USA

Most people want to stay in their own home as long as they safely can. Elder Love USA helps make that possible for older adults who need a little extra support with daily life, but do not want a long-term contract or a big agency arrangement.
The Palm Desert nonprofit provides affordable in-home caregiving with flexible options and no minimum hourly requirements. That can mean help with everyday tasks, a steadier routine, or simply another person in the room who knows how to make the day easier. Their model is built around keeping care accessible, which matters in a valley where many families are trying to balance independence, safety, and cost.

They also keep a Coachella Valley resource page with local contacts for food, clothing, support services, and other practical needs. That makes Elder Love useful even before someone is ready to ask for caregiving help. Sometimes the hardest part is just knowing where to begin.
If you or someone close to you is trying to stay independent at home, this is a local name to keep nearby.

This Week: Cork Tree California Cuisine, Palm Desert

74950 Country Club Drive, Palm Desert
Cork Tree California Cuisine is the kind of Palm Desert dinner spot that feels built for lingering. The dining room has a quiet, polished feel, and the restaurant’s patio brings in palm trees, a natural cascading fountain, and enough desert evening atmosphere to make dinner feel like the outing.
The menu gives you plenty to settle into. There are crab and shrimp cakes with champagne beurre blanc, organic rainbow beet salad with local dates and goat cheese, poached lobster stack with avocado and heirloom tomato, and seared scallops with butternut squash and pomegranate reduction. If you are looking for something more classic, the boneless braised short ribs and filet mignon both sound like proper dinner choices.
This is not a rush-through-it place. It is better for the evening when you want a calm table, a real conversation, and a meal that feels like somebody planned it well.
